Check out this multiplication worksheet generator to help practice multiplication. You can set up your own type of question by selecting a range of values for both numbers and you can randomly generate any number of practice questions.

### Multiplication - another way (regroup and carry forward)

318 x 6 = | |

Multiply the ones 6 x 8 = 48 | 3 1 8 x 6 |

Write the 8 in the ones' place and carry the 4 forward to the tens' place | 3 1^{4}8x 68 |

Multiply the tens 6 x 1 = 6 and add the 4 that was carried forward 6 + 4 = 10 | 3^{1}1^{4}8x 68 |

Write the 0 in the tens' place and carry the 1 forward to the hundreds' place | 3^{1}1^{4}8x 60 8 |

Multiply the hundreds 6 x 3 = 18 and add the 1 that was carried forward 18 + 1 = 19 | 3^{1}1^{4}8x 60 8 |

Write the 1 in the thousands' place and the 9 in the hundreds' place | 3^{1}1^{4}8x 61 9 0 8 |

318 x 6 = 1908 |

Notice that in the example below there is one step that does not require regrouping and carrying forward.

403 x 7 = | |

Multiply the ones 7 x 3 = 21 | 4 0 3 x 7 |

Write the 1 in the ones' place and carry the 2 forward to the tens' place | 4 0^{2}3x 71 |

Multiply the tens 7 x 0 = 0 and add the 2 that was carried forward 0 + 2 = 2 | 4 0^{2}3x 71 |

Write the 2 in the tens' place (note: there's nothing to carry forward in this case) | 4 0^{2}3x 72 1 |

Multiply the hundreds 7 x 4 = 28 | 4 0^{2}3x 72 1 |

Write the 2 in the thousands' place and the 8 in the hundreds' place | 4 0^{2}3x 72 8 2 1 |

403 x 7 = 2821 |

Check to be sure your child knows that regrouping and carrying forward is often not required for some, or all the steps when using this method of multiplication.
