Missing Factors School Themed Math Activities

Definition

Missing factors are unknown numbers in a multiplication equation that students must determine to make the equation true. A factor is a number that is multiplied by another number to produce a product. In a missing factor problem, one of the factors is replaced with a blank or symbol. For example, in the equation 4 × ___ = 20, the missing factor is 5 because 4 × 5 = 20. Solving missing factor problems helps students understand the relationship between multiplication and division.
