A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction. It can also be represented by decimal numbers that are either terminating or repeating.

Decimal Representations of Rational Numbers
- All repeating and terminating decimal numbers are rational numbers.
- Rational numbers can be easily represented by decimals just by dividing the numerator by the denominator.
Terminating decimal – decimal representation that contains finite decimal numbers after the decimal point.
Repeating decimal – also called recurring decimal. Decimal representation that repeats infinitely. A bar ( ) above the number indicates that the number repeats and doesn’t end.
