What is Compass?
A compass is a tool used to draw circles of varying sizes. It is recommended to use a compass in drawing a circle for its accuracy.
Parts of a Compass
- Hinge: It is the handle of the compass, hold it using your forefingers and thumbs, and by turning it, you can make a circle. You can adjust the hinges of compasses to adjust the size of the circle you’re drawing.
- Compass Needle: The needle’s tip marks the center of the circle. The gap created by the compass needle and the pencil will be the resulting radius of the circle.
- Pencil Holder: If a compass does not come with a pre-installed pencil, this is where you will put one. The pencil is used to draw the circle around the center with the desired radius.
