Definition:
Algebraic Expressions are expressions that contain variables, coefficient and constants. These expressions are combination of terms and at least one arithmetic operation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Coefficient –The numerical factor of a multiplication expression that contains a variable.
Variable – A symbol for an unknown value.
Constant – A number that cannot change its value
ADDITION OF ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS
Like Terms – You can only add terms in algebraic expressions if they are “like terms”. Like terms are terms whose variables and exponents are the same.
5x + 3y + 9x + 2 + 2y + 1
- 5x and 9x are like terms
- 3y and 2y are like terms
- 2 and 1 are like terms
