Math Activities: Comparing Numbers

In this activity you will experiment with different everyday items that are found round the house to explore greater and less than concepts using smaller and larger numbers.

StepYou and your child
Lay out two plates.
Put five pennies on one plate and three on the other plate.Which plate has more pennies, macaroni,  marbles, pencil crayons, pebbles, or whatever ?  Which plate has less?
By using items found around the house you are continuing to reinforce the concept that Math is all around us.

The above activity was created by Diane Massie, a HelpingWithMath.com contributor. It is part of her Handling Math program.

First hand experiences brings mastery of a skill and concept.
