Definition:
Multi-digit numbers are used in our number system. They are formed by combining several numbers.
Base 10 numerals are numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Example:
3,425 is a combination of different (3, 4, 2, and 5). The use of base 10 numerals allows us to combine more numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Base 10 means that the value of each digit is determined by its position, and each position is 10 times greater than the position to its right. It is a “positional numeral system.”
The first position is the Ones
The second is the Tens
The third is the Hundreds, and so on.
To find the value of a number like 4,275, you multiply each digit by its place value:
4 x 1,000 = 4,000
2 x 100 = 200
7 x 10 = 70
5 x 1 = 5
Total: 4,000 + 200 + 70 + 5 = 4,275
These terms are often confused but have very specific meanings:
Digit: The symbol used (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9).
Place: The location of the digit (e.g., the “Tens” place).
Value: How much the digit is worth based on its place (e.g., a 7 in the tens place has a value of 70).
