**The perimeter** is the distance around a two-dimensional shape. Meanwhile, the area of a rectangle is the space covered by the shape.

The area of a two-dimensional shape is the space occupied by the shape. In the given rectangle on the side, the shaded space is the area of rectangle.**FORMULA: Length x Width or Base x Height**

## Example:

Length: 5cm, Width: 2cm

The perimeter of the given rectangle above is 5 + 2 + 5 + 2. Since opposite sides of a rectangle are always equal, based on its properties, you need to find the dimensions of only two sides to find the perimeter of a rectangle.

5 + 2 + 5 + 2 = 2 ( 5 + 2) = 2 (7) = **14 cm**

Length: 35m, Width: 25m

The area of a rectangle has a length of 35 m and a width of 25 m.

35 m x 25 m = **875 square meters**
