COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY OF MULTIPLICATION

The answer remains the same when multiplying numbers even though the order of numbers are changes
In other words, changing the order of the factors does not change the product

Examples:

5 x 8 = 8 x 5
40 = 40

4 x 9 = 9 x 4
36 = 36

ASSOCIATIVE PROPERTY OF MULTIPLICATION

When multiplying any three numbers together, the product will always be the same regardless of the order of the factors

Examples:

5 x (3 x 2) = (5 x 3) x 2
5 x 6 = 15 x 2
30 = 30

10 x (4 x 2) = (10 x 4) x 2
10 x 8 = 40 x 2
80 = 80

DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY OF MULTIPLICATION

The multiplication sentence or factors can be distributed over addition, as well as subtraction

Examples:

3 x (5 + 3)
3 x 8 = 24

5 x (8 + 2)
5 x 8 + 5 x 2 = 40 + 10 = 50

IDENTITY PROPERTY OF MULTIPLICATION

This property states that any number multiplied by 1, the product will always be the same number

Examples:

29 x 1 = 29
93 x 1 = 93
101 x 1 = 101
34 x 1 = 34
48 x 1 = 48
