Why is President’s Day celebrated?
President’s Day, celebrated on the third Monday of February, honors past presidents, especially George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. To celebrate, we’ll explore palindromic numbers, just like the symmetry we see in history—looking back while moving forward!
What is Palindromic Numbers?
Palindromic numbers are numbers that read the same forward and backward, like 121 or 1331.
A palindrome is a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same forward and backward, like “racecar” or “madam.”
Palindromic numbers can be single-digit numbers (like 7), two-digit numbers where both digits are the same (like 11 or 22), or longer numbers with symmetrical patterns (like 121, 1331, or 12321).
Palindromic numbers appear in various digit lengths and are studied in mathematics for their unique symmetry.
A number is not a palindromic number if its digits do not read the same forward and backward. For example, 97 becomes 79 when reversed, so it is not a palindromic number, while 121 stays the same, making it a palindromic number.
Palindromic numbers follow a symmetrical pattern, where their digits mirror each other around the center, creating a unique numerical balance.
