Celebrating United Nations Day!

On October 24, the UN celebrates the anniversary of the day the UN Charter went into effect in 1945. The annual celebration of UN Day provides a chance to advance our shared goals and uphold the objectives and tenets of the UN Charter that have served as our compass for the past 76 years.

Introduction to Negative Numbers

Anything less than zero is considered a negative number. When you hit 0 while counting backward, you enter the negative number range.

On a number line, negative numbers are those to the left of zero, and positive numbers are those to the right of zero.

When a number is negative, it is written with a minus sign in front. For example, -8 would be called “minus 8” or “negative 8.”

The negative sign indicates how many steps away a number is from zero. Therefore -4 is four steps away from zero.
