IMPROPER FRACTION TO MIXED NUMBER

Step 1: Divide the numerator from the denominator
Step 2: The quotient will be the whole number, while the remainder will be the new numerator and the divisor or the denominator will remain the same.

MIXED NUMBER TO IMPROPER FRACTION

Step 1: Multiply the current denominator and the whole number then add the product to the numerator. 
Step 2: The sum will now be the new numerator while the denominator will be the same.

To add or subtract two mixed numbers, you can convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions first before performing the operations, then convert it back to mixed numbers when you get the final answer.
