Understanding Adding Integers Using the Number Line!

Integer is a signed whole number. It includes 0 and all positive and negative whole numbers.

A number line is a line that represents numbers visually. It may either be horizontal or vertical.

To add integers using the number line,

Locate the first addend on the number line.
From the location of the first addend, move as many units as the second addend:
to the right, if the second addend is positive;
to the left, if the second addend is negative.
The sum of the given numbers is the number represented by the point reached from the previous step.
