Rounding off numbers can be defined as a means of making a number simpler while retaining its value to what it is. You can round up or round down umbers based on some rules.

Summary:

RULES IN ROUNDING NUMBERS

If the number you are rounding is followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, round the number down. Example: 38 rounded to the nearest ten is 40.

If the number you are rounding is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up. Example: 29 rounded to the nearest ten is 30.

Example:

Round off 345,823 to the nearest ten thousand.

Since the digit at the right of 4 is 5, we do rounding up. The result is 350,000.
