Division simply means repeated subtraction. A number (dividend) is being divided by another number (divisor) results to a new number (quotient).

RULES IN DIVIDING DECIMALS

  • If the divisor is decimal number, move the decimal point to right to make it a whole number. Do the same number of movement with the decimal point of the dividend.
  • Perform division just like doing it with whole numbers. Keep dividing until the answer terminates or repeats.
  • Put decimal point directly above decimal point in the dividend.
  • Check your answer. Multiply quotient by divisor. Does it equal the dividend?
